In Busan city, currency exchange counters are available in areas like :

- Gimhae International Airport Busan

- Nampo-dong area,

- Chinatown opposite Busan Station, and

- Busan International Ferry terminal.

 

Currency Change Counters at Busan Gimhae Airport :

A convenient place to exchange currency is at Gimhae airport. 

There are several bank currency exchange counters in the International Terminal arrival and departure hall. 

There is one Forex counter just as you exit customs and then at each end of the arrival and departure level next to entry/exit gates 1 and 4.

Most bank currency exchange counters at the Gimhae International Airport in Busan are Open from 10AM-08PM.

There are also ATMs throughout Gimhae Airport in Busan.

 

Currency Exchange Counters in the Nampo-dong area in Busan :

A couple of Private legal Currency Exchange Counters in Nampo-dong are : (directions below)

1). ABC Money Exchange on Gwangbok-ro 43beon-gil Street

- Located in the small street opposite (or next to) THE FACE SHOP building in the Nampo-dong shopping area,

2). Ho Ho Currency Exchange on Gwangbok-ro 43beon-gil Street

- A few shops ahead of ABC Money Exchange (on the same street)


Directions to Currency Exchange Counters in Nampo-dong :

- Take Exit 7 of Nampo Metro Station,

- Turn left on the main Nampo-dong shopping street,

- Keep left at the main Statue Sq. (where three main roads meet) with the Police station and Tourist information on the right,

- Keep walking on the main shopping street and look for THE FACE SHOP on the left and Premium Store on the right,

- Look for "Gwangbok-ro 43beon-gil" Street opposite THE FACE SHOP between Premium Store and Building with the Teddy Bear statue,

- Both Currency Exchange counters/shops are located on the same street (a small street opposite to THE FACE SHOP building).

- You will also encounter Older Ladies (ajjumas) sitting on a blue plastic chair/stool in this street opposite THE FACE SHOP building.

- These Ajjumas (Older Ladies) offer unofficial currency exchange in Busan.

- Exchange Money at your own risk with these Ajjumas.

Currency Exchange Counter in Chinatown opposite Busan Station
:

At Busan Station Currency Exchange Counter is in Chinatown opposite Busan station on Russian Road.

Please note that Texas Street and part of Chinatown opposite Busan station have lots of Girly Pubs/Bars.

Busan Chinatown area may not be appropriate for kids.

Busan Station does not have any Money Exchange counters, although they have many bank ATMs.

Banks like Shinhan and Woori bank are available all over town in Busan and offer money exchange services.



Business hours of Busan exchange counters and banks :

   - Banks: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm closed Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays

   - Private Exchange counters: 9:30 am - 7:00 pm, every day

Unless you are changing a large amount of money in Busan, the difference between the best rate and the lowest rate is not much. 

We found the difference from the highest exchange rate and the lowest rate was about $2.00 USD for every $100 we exchanged.

Many ATM machines allow cash withdrawal in local South Korean Won using international credit cards like Visa/Plus and Mastercard/Cirrus.
