Fukuoka Castle Ruins - Travel Guide

 

The ruins of Fukuoka Castle are located in the city in Maizuru Park.

Once upon a time Fukuoka Castle used to be the largest castle on the island of Kyushu.

Now only ruined walls and a few structures remains, and the park attracts visitors with walking trails and a few view points.

Getting There

 

By Subway :
Take subway to Ohori Koen Station or Akasaka station
Follow the signs or directions on the toursit map. By walk will take 10-15 minutes.

By Bus :
Take a Nishitetsu Bus to "Heiwadai Korokan-mae", "Otemon", or "Jyounai Bijutsukan Higashi-guchi" stops.
By walk will take about 10 minutes from these bus stops.

• It takes about 30 minutes to 1.5 hours or more to visit Fukuoka Castle ruins and park depending on your interest.
• The best time to visit the castle ruins is usually between late March and early April during cherry blossom season.
