Other Money-Saving Tips

1. Don’t rent a car in Honolulu for the whole duration of the trip.
Parking at any hotel will cost another $20-$25 per day.
Rent a car just for a day as required or take a guided tour bus.

2. For public transport, the consecutive 4-days bus pass will cost $35 bucks.
A consecutive 4-day bus pass is available in all 7-Eleven and ABC stores in the Waikiki area.

3. Hotels further away from the beach in the Waikiki area tend to be less expensive.
Everything in Waikiki is within walking distance of the beach, and you can use any stretch of the beach you want.
All beaches in Hawaii are public.

Safety and Health for Honolulu

Although Oahu is pretty safe, it is a tourist city, and you should consider these safety tips:

Don't wear expensive jewelry and flash cash around. It's a good idea to have small denominations in cash.
Many smaller stores don't accept credit cards.

Please don't leave anything inside your car unless it is in the trunk.
Always know where you are going and how to get there before you leave.

Go to the beach after 2 pm.  Wear sunscreen every day and reapply after swimming.
Nothing ruins a vacation like a sunburn.
