Kaohsiung- Fo Guang Shan Buddha Monastery - Helpful Travel Information


Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Memorial Monastery Center AKA Buddha Light Mountain is one of the oldest and largest Buddhist centers in Taiwan.

The Fo Guang Shan Monastery is in 100 hectares featuring the famous Buddha’s tooth relic presented by the Tibetan Lama.

The impressive features in the Fo Guang Shan center in Taiwan include:

Getting There


By Kaohsiung MRT (Metro) and Bus :

- Take the Kaohsiung MRT to Zuoying High-Speed Railway Station and exit

- Take the Hafo Bus or EdaBus to the Fo Guang Shan Monastery or Buddha Memorial Center

- The bus stop is just outside the Zuoying MRT station next to the road

Recommendation

 

English audio devices are available at the Museum of Buddhist Underground Palaces in the Main Hall.

You are required to produce your identification cards (passport) at the reception counter.

Wheel Chairs are available for loan at the information desks in the Front and Main Halls.

You would be asked to leave your basic information and contact numbers.

You will be walking a lot up and down hills so wear good shoes and bring water at Fo Guang Shan.

Note: Non-vegetarian food items are not allowed on the grounds.

All food sold at Fo Guang Shan is vegetarian. There are several restaurants to choose from.
