Kyoto - Transportation to Kyoto Hotel
(How to get to Kyoto?)

Kyoto do not have its own Airport for direct access.

Below are few ways to reach Kyoto, Japan:

1). Shinkansen (Bullet Train) from Tokyo,

2). Kansai International Airport (KIX) in Osaka and then train or Limousine Bus to Kyoto Station,

3). Osaka International Airport (ITM) - Domestic Airport and then train or Limousine Bus to Kyoto Station, and

4). Chubu Centrair International Airport near Nagoya and then train or Limousine Bus to Kyoto Station

From Kyoto Station you can walk or take Subway or Taxi depending on distance and connectivity to your hotel in Kyoto.

Kansai International Airport (IATA: KIX):

Kansai Airport in Osaka also known as Kansai Airport is 90 minutes away from Kyoto.

Osaka Kansai Airport is good for International Flights.

Kansai Airport is connected to Kyoto by train and Limousine bus.


Central Japan International Airport (Centrair, IATA: NGO):

Nagoya Centrair Airport less than 90 minutes from Kyoto by express train and shinkansen.

You will have to take train to Nagoya station and then Shinkansen train from Nagoya Station to Kyoto.


Osaka International Airport (Itami, IATA: ITM):

Osaka Itami Airport is closest airport to Kyoto for domestic flights in Japan.

This Osaka Airport is 50 minutes by airport limousine bus or trains to Kyoto.

 

Get down at Kyoto Station or your bus stop and take a local bus, subway or a taxi cab to your hotel.

 

Airports to Hotel (By Shared Taxi)

 

MK Taxi Sky Gate Shuttle company runs "Shared Taxi" service from Osaka and Kansai Airports.

If possible, reserve online at least two days in advance.

Shared Taxi cab is convenient because this service will drop you right at your Hotel (and pick you up at Hotel).

However shared taxi might stop at several places and take more time.

Taxi cabs are easily available in Kyoto Station. Taxi cabs are cheaper than Tokyo in Kyoto.

 

Travel Tip for getting to hotel in Kyoto

 

Kyoto is the 7th largest city in Japan with two subway lines, JR lines & Kintetsu Railways lines .

If taking the express Train from the Airport (JR line and included in your JR rail pass)
-please make sure that you know your destination station name and Subway line
-Have written directions to your hotel from your destination station before you land in Japan
- FYI: the JR rail pass can only be purchased outside of Japan

If taking Airport limousine bus then please have your directions handy from your bus stop to the hotel.
