Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Guide for Arriving Passengers - Helpful Information

 

Los Angeles International Airport (Airport Code: LAX) and commonly called as LAX is the main International airport serving greater Los Angeles area.

Los Angeles's LAX Airport has Nine Terminals arranged in horseshoe (U) shape.

LAX Nine terminals (Terminal 1-8 and Tom Bradley International Terminal) has a total of 132 gates.


The Tom Bradley International Terminal and Terminals 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 on the South side are all connected by internal passage (Secure Zone).

Terminal 1-3 on the North side are not connected to any terminals.

Passengers transferring between North and South terminals can cross the center road at a lower arrival level for transfer.

LAX Airport also runs a Free shuttle to transfer between North and South Terminals.


International Arriving Passengers with the destination as LA should head towards Immigration, collect bags from Baggage Claim, and clear Customs at this LAX Airport.

LAX Airport Public Transportation

LAX FREE Shuttle Bus:

LAX Airport provides FREE shuttle bus between its terminals and stops location below :

1). LAX City Bus Centre

2). Metro Green Line Aviation Station, and

3). Few Off-Airport Rental Car places at LAX which don’t run their own Shuttles

Arriving Passengers who wish to take FREE shuttle should wait for the LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections sign on the Lower/Arrivals Level islands in front of each terminal.

 

LAX City Bus Center:

Arriving passengers can take above mentioned LAX FREE Shuttle from Lower/Arrivals Level at each terminal to LAX City Bus Center.

Once at the LAX City Bus Center, board city buses serving the Los Angeles area.

Other public bus authorities serving LAX are:

- Culver City Bus Lines,

- Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, and

- Torrance Transit.

 

Metro Green Line Aviation Station at LAX:

LAX Airport Free shuttle also provides a connection to Metro Green Line Aviation station.

Free "G" shuttle from Lower/Arrivals Level at each terminal (stand below LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections sign) connects to Metro Aviation station.

Metro Green Line is fast light rail line connecting Redondo Beach in the South and Norwalk in the North.

LAX FlyAway Bus

LAX FlyAway® buses offer Non-Stop Bus Service roundtrip rides between LAX and these locations :

- Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley),

- Union Station (Downtown Los Angeles),

- Westwood (West Los Angeles/UCLA),

- Santa Monica (1875 Main Street, just north of Pico Blvd.),

- Hollywood (6244 Hollywood Blvd, at Argyle)

Board buses on the Lower/Arrivals Level in front of each terminal under the green "FlyAway® Buses and Long Distance Vans" sign.

Each bus is marked with its service location.

The cost runs about $9.75 per person one way. No reservation needed.

Airport Hotel and Parking Lot Shuttles

Airport Hotels and Parking Lots Shuttles at LAX :

Shuttles for hotels and privately operated parking lots are located on the Lower/Arrival Level islands in front of each terminal.

Under the red sign “Hotel & Parking Lot Shuttles.”

Check with your hotel to see if they provide a shuttle from the airport.

Taxi at LAX Airport

Taxi at LAX :

Taxis are now located on the Taxi Pickup area next to terminal 1 at LAX.

Passengers need to take a free green shuttle to the Taxi and Ride-share Pickup area at LAX.

Only authorized taxis with an official seal issued by the City of Los Angeles Department of Transportation on the vehicle are permitted in the LAX airport.

Private Pickup at LAX Airport

Shared Shuttle at LAX Airport:

Super Shuttle and Karmel Shuttle provide shared-ride vans pickup for arriving passengers at LAX Airport.

Shared Shuttle picks up passengers on the Lower/Arrivals Level at the Orange Zone at each terminal.

Passengers need to pre-book a shared shuttle.

 

Private Car Pickup at LAX Airport:

Private Car and Limo pickup are also available at Los Angeles International Airport.

You will have to book in advance for your private Car pickup at LAX Airport.

After booking once you arrive look for a person holding your name board in LAX Airport arrival hall of your terminal.
