Most tourist attractions are near NYC Subway Stations.

New York subway system is the oldest in the world and runs 24 hours.

Subway train stations and signs are well marked.

Subway trains are fast, however if you are alone after midnight then you might feel more comfortable taking a taxi cab.

NYC Safety tips

Watch and follow traffic signs.  Traffic on peak hours can be crowded in New York City area.

After dark stick to the main streets if you don’t know the area to avoid getting lost.

New York City is generally safe for visitors.
However be aware of your purse or backpack and surroundings, especially when on crowded trains or buses or places.

Keep your wallet in your front pocket & keep your purse in front of your eyes.

Don't flash your expensive jewelry or other stuff in public.

Avoid drawing attention to yourself as tourist.

Especially after dark always know where you are going and how to get there before you leave.

If taking the New York subway after mid-night, stand at the sign "During off hours trains stop here" or in view of the Metro-Card booth.

Ride in cars with people and preferably in the conductor's car.

Don't buy tickets off the streets from people with "special deals", these are usually scams.

Eating in NYC

New York City is a food town from all regions of the world!

Try one of the many Soul Food restaurants in Harlem , eat Chinese in Chinatown or homemade pasta in Little Italy, try some surf and turf at one of the trendy restaurants in Midtown, share a Piled High Deli Sandwich, eat some Bagels with smoked salmon, try a Shawarma or hot dog from a street vendor.
