Money changing machines accept 12-13 major currencies.

Currency Exchange Machines in Osaka are usually available from early morning till late night, some of them 24 hours a day.

Banks in Osaka are open 9 AM - 3 PM (Mon-Fri) and closed on weekends and Public Holidays.

Private Currency exchange counters in tourist areas are usually open from 9 AM - 7:30 PM (Daily).

At major department stores, currency exchange counters are located with Tax refund counters and are usually open from 10 AM - 8 PM (Daily).


Bring your passport as many department store exchange counters need a passport as ID to change currency.

Post Office or Seven Bank (in Seven-Eleven convenience stores) ATM machines allow cash withdrawal in local Japanese Yen ¥.

You can use international credit cards like Visa/Plus and Mastercard/Cirrus at these locations.

Please check with your bank for any additional fees for using your ATM card in a foreign country before you decide to use your ATM card.

Traveler's Cheques

Traveler's cheques are accepted by hotels, banks and Post Office in Japan.

Traveller cheques may be subject to a fee.
