At the BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING tour and the visitor center, you will learn all about how U.S. paper currency is made.

The free 40-minute tour includes an introductory film and gallery tour of the money process at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Washington, D.C.

Admission is FREE to BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING and NO tickets are required in Fall and Winter

Admission is Free to BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING but tickets are REQUIRED in Spring and Summer.

• Get your tickets from the Ticket Booth located at Raoul Wallenburg Place Drive side (15th ST, SW)

• Booth opens at 8:00 a.m. and closes when all tickets have been distributed for the day.

• The BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING Tour Entrance is located on 14th Street, SW.  

• Visitors must line up according to their ticket time at the Entrance on 14th Street and wait for directions from tour guides to enter the building.

Tour runs every 15 minutes

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.  (through March 20)

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., 12:30 to 3:30 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.   (March 23 - September 4)                                                           

Group Tours

11:00 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. (Advanced Reservations for Large Groups Only)

Getting There

Getting to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) By DC Metro:

- Take the Blue or Orange Line to Smithsonian Station

- Exit at Smithsonian Station

- Leave through the Independence Avenue/Bureau of Engraving and Printing Exit.

- As you step off the escalator go straight ahead onto Independence Avenue towards 14th Street.

- Cross and turn left on 14th Street and walk to the BEP

• These are made through the office of your local United States Senator or Representative.

• These tours take place Monday through Friday at 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. April through August

• Congressional tours also run every 15 minutes from 4 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
