John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum - Helpful Guide for Boston Visitors

 
The Main building of JFK Library provides a sweeping view of Boston’s waterfront.

Located on Columbia Point in Boston, the JFK Presidential Library and Museum is set on a landscaped ten-acre park.

Visitors can experience the JFK Museum through three theaters, period settings, and 25 dramatic multimedia exhibits, and enter the recreated world of the Kennedy Presidency for a “first-hand” experience of John F. Kennedy’s life, legacy, and leadership.

Non-English Brochures are available in nine languages, in addition to English.

There is also a Museum Store and Café at this JFK Library and Museum in South Boston.

Visitors can also walk along the Boston Harborwalk or picnic on the grounds.

From May to October, President Kennedy’s 26' sailboat Victura is on display on our grounds.

Go to their JFK Library and Museum website for the Current Admission Fee

• Children 12 and under are free

• Edward M. Kennedy Institute visitors receive a $2 (USD) discount during a same-day visit to the JFK Library.
   Show your valid EMK Institute ticket at admissions.

• If you are visiting Boston with limited time on hand then we suggest buying Go Boston Multi-Attraction Card

JFK Library and Museum Hours :

The JFK Museum is open seven (7) days per week  9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.

• The start time for the last introductory film of the day is at 3:55 p.m.

• Closed on the major US holidays:

   - New Year's Day (January 1)

   - Thanksgiving Day (4th Thursday in November)

   - Christmas Day (December 25)

• The JFK Library and Museum closes at 2:00 p.m. on the following days:

    - A day before Thanksgiving (Wednesday)

    - Christmas Eve (Sunday, December 24)

    - New Year's Eve (Sunday, December 31)

Getting to JFK Library and Museum in Boston

By Boston "T" (Subway/Metro) to JFK Library in Boston :

The closest stop on the T is JFK/UMASS on the MBTA's Red Line.

There is a free shuttle bus from this station to the Library and Museum.

1. Take the MBTA "T" Red Line to the JFK/UMASS station.  

2. At the station level, follow signs to Busway/ JFK Library.

3. Board "Bus #2," a free shuttle bus that will take you from the T station to the JFK Library and Museum.
   Bus #2 will make stops at UMass and the Massachusetts State Archives before stopping at the JFK Library.

Bus #2 runs every 20 minutes starting on the hour during Museum hours.

There is signage at the T stop indicating the pick-up location for Bus #2.

Recommendations and Tips for visiting JFK Library Boston

- If you are visiting multiple attractions in Boston, purchase a Go Boston Card by Smart Destinations
   The Go Card is a really good deal if you intend to go to many attractions in Boston.

- The JFK Library is far from most attractions in Boston so keep that in mind. 
   There aren’t any stores or restaurants near the museum.  

- JFK Presidential Library is a good place to go if the weather is not that great or too hot. 
   Worth seeing,  the views of the water are pretty great!
